An ongoing project in the south of France where textural hand-painted murals are bringing narrative and whimsy to this lovingly restored family home.

All photographs and video shot in collaboration with Goodrest Studios

THE KITCHEN

A playful celebration of greek mythology, in the style of Jean Cocteau’s Villa Santo Sospir - ‘The Tattooed Villa’. All inspired by the chequerboard floor, a set of tumblers and a hand-painted plate above the fireplace.

THE OUTDOOR KITCHEN

A textured romanesque design to bring the surrounding nature into the space, with an organic composition to contrast the structure and compliment the weathered surface.

THE LIVING ROOM

Inspired by the Etruscan tomb paintings, this mural comprises of wide-necked, long-limbed statuesque horses alongside large sculpted urns; where the horses were symbols of great power and action, the urns symbolised both safety and home.

THE DINING ROOM

This delicate narrative of bathing women is a celebration of the female form in classical influence. The watercolour-like mural softens & animates in depth as light tracks around the space across the day and into the evening.

This mural is still in progress
