FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I know what I can afford?

Do have a look at the Mini, Midi and Maxi Mural examples on the website; on each one I give a guide as to what sort of scale mural your budget will allow for. Every project is of course bespoke, and it’s very helpful for me to have an idea of your budget at the beginning, so that I can tailor the experience around you ensuring that you get the very most for what you can afford. If your budget is flexible and you have a certain space in mind, do get in touch and I can give you a clear indication of what range your quote will be in.

Can we just have a workshop or does it only apply to those who are looking for a mural?

You absolutely can - workshops are available as an experience in their own right, without the follow on of a mural. Whether you’re looking for an excuse to gather some friends, to celebrate an occasion, or simply a way to get the family together and spend some quality time doing something new, a workshop could be just the thing. Whatever it might be, let me know and I will make sure to create a workshop that delivers inspiration, creativity and atmosphere.

How long is the Discovery Workshop?

A workshop will generally last around three hours and can take place in the morning or the afternoon depending on your preference. I will provide all of the materials needed including paints, paper and overalls. Depending on the size of your group, or whether you are looking for a one-to-one, there is flexibility to extend or reduce the length of the workshop. Let me know who’s coming and I will amend where necessary to ensure everyone feels well included.

What if we have no idea what we want in our home?

Well if that’s the case then it couldn’t be better! So much of the fun of bespoke artwork is in the process of how it’s created and where the ideas are sparked from. Following the Discovery Workshop where I will have gleaned valuable insights into your stylistic choices, relationship with colour and more, we can explore your home together, taking in the various opportunities and spaces for decoration and character. Keep and open mind, you might be surprised at what we find.

Do you do the workshop and the mural on the same day?

No, the workshop will take place ahead of the mural, offering me lots of inspiration to then begin to play with compositions and subjects. Over the design process we will review my ideas together, make adjustments where needed and once you’re happy with the design we will book in the mural. If you have a specific time by which you would like the artwork to be painted, please let me know this when you make your enquiry so I can be sure of my availability.

Where do you stay when painting our mural?

Depending on where you are, I will always do my best to seek accommodation through friends or family who live nearby. If this isn’t an option then I will look into affordable accommodation such as B n B’s. If it suits you and you are comfortable, then I often time my murals alongside client’s holidays, so that I can stay on site and costs are saved. I have in the past been very happy to pet sit at the same time, so don’t hesitate to ask.

How long will the mural last?

I paint using a variety of materials but more often than not I work with emulsion. These are naturally durable to their environment and every mural is set with a coat of varnish (or two depending on the space), so rest assured, your mural will have a long life span. If you have an area in mind that you are worried might not be suitable, please don’t hesitate to get in touch and I will do my best to apply my experience and make an assessment.

We’re quite creative, can we help with painting the mural?

Yes please! I often try to encourage children, small or teenage, to help me out with certain details and feel involved with the process. It’s a unique experience and putting your hands to it will only deepen your connection to the artwork and its place in your home. I promise I won’t ask you to do anything you’re not comfortable with, but I’m so happy to guide you, and I really hope you will have a go!
