DRUMMONDS BATHROOMS

- November 2022 -

In November 2022 I was invited to be an artist in residence in the Drummonds Bathroom Showroom on the King’s Road in celebration of the Chelsea Design Quarter Autumn Design Trail. Over the course of eight days I decorated two of their famously luxurious cast iron free-standing bath tubs with original hand painted designs.

The Swale bath tub draws on traditional, nostalgic circus imagery featuring a chaotic assortment of exotic animals, a strong man & contortionists. I wanted it to have a playful feel, full of narrative, bold colours and iridescent features to compliment the shape and height of the bath tub.

The design for The Wye bath tub celebrated movement and fluidity, featuring a teaming shoal of shimmering small fish that appear to flow in tandem with the natural curve of the bath tub. Painted against deep blue tones, evocative of the sea, I hoped this design would bring peace and tranquility to a bathroom.

This collaboration continues with Drummonds Bathrooms with hand-painted bespoke bath tubs available on request.

For further information on this please contact either myself or the Drummonds Bathrooms Showroom directly.

I was delighted to be asked to design a set of six table mats for Club Matters, a highly popular tableware company known for their exceptional quality table mats of unique original designs, all handmade in England.

Following a number of collaborative meetings focusing on the use of gold leaf in my artwork, we decided that an African safari theme would be the best way to work creatively with this element. From here I went on to paint six designs, each with a different animal together with its reflection captured in the water beneath it.

The Savannah set is available to buy from Club Matters:

This collaboration took place in Marylebone and called for the decoration of the Gaggenau Showroom’s Christmas window. The brief was to celebrate both the festive season and this luxury kitchen company’s famous origins from the heart of the Black Forest.

With distant mountains, a snowy landscape brimming with pine trees, a flowing mountain river and the uniquely designed Gaggenau Cuckoo Clock, the festive window was complete.

The window was created over two days using chalk pens of various sizes.

This project entailed the decoration of the Drummonds Bathroom Showroom window, in preparation of the Chelsea Design Quarter Autumn Design Trail.

The autumnal design was based upon a chinoiserie style narrative of woodland birds & animals, all hoping to make the most of the rainy season by helping to fill the bath tubs situated in the window by shaking the rain water from the wet leaves.

The window display was painted using chalk pens and took ten days in total.
